Ardeen is a luxury beach villa situated right on the beach in Kahandamodara , Ranna, on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The villa has three large, air-conditioned bedrooms, two with sea view and one family suite for 2 adults +2 kids. The whole villa can accommodate up to 8 persons -ideally 6 adults and 2 children. Each bedroom is light filled, high ceilinged and spacious with attached bathroom. The family room has a bathtub in addition to a separate shower cubicle. The rooms are over 40 sqm each with a large private ensuite, The double rooms allow for a spectacular view of the sea. The lounge and dining areas overlook the beach and pool. The bifolding aluminum and glass doors and high ceilings with the indoor courtyard provide natural light and airy open space to relax. The spacious back garden with private swimming pool is set on an acre of beachfront land The two sea view rooms each has a private undercover patio leading to the beach and pool. The entrance to the villa is via the private wide driveway dotted with bougainvillea and frangipani where peacocks and wild fowl nest. The villa has a modern fully equipped kitchen and our chef can prepare tasty Sri Lankan as well as western meals. The rate includes breakfast, taxes and service. On a full moon night, one may see turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs and a variety of birds dot the landscape. We do not sell beer or spirits but guests are welcome to bring their own stocks at no charge. The pristine beach with its wide shore is ideal for walking. swimmable when the sea is calm and exploring the beauty of nature. At dawn and dusk one can join the fishermen in drawing their nets with the day's catch,. A paradise for anglers to cast a line or practice the art of netting prawns in the lagoon nearby. Golf lovers can visit the International Golf Resort which is just a 20 minute drive from the villa. Our guests fall into two categories: 1. those that want a quite place to get away from the hustle an d bustle of city life and enjoy the tranquility of nature and 2. guests that want to have a centrally located base in the Southern coastline of Sri Lanka to undertake day trips to the various places of interest like the game parks, elephant orphanage, surf beaches, swim with the turtles, visit the hill town of Ella to see the nine arches bridge and waterfalls, visit the UNESCO listed Heritage City of Galle and visit the dolphin and whale watching sites that are in the neighborhood. In this situation a one or two week stay is recommended. Long stay guests also have the option of buying their own groceries and using the services of our private chef to cook their meals at a daily fee of USD 20.

The location of the villa is ideal for guests who wish to just chill out, get completely reenergized enjoying a walk on the pristine beach, lazing in the sun and pool and absorbing the splendors of nature, spending valuable time with kids and family and friends. Its central location also makes it an ideal base as the last stop to visit the many attractive tourists spots before departure.

Transport:

• Free pick up from the International Airport or hotel is available in an air conditioned van for stays of 7 nights for guests travelling together. For stays lesser than 7 nights pickup from airport or Colombo is available at rates to be agreed. For stays of 14 nights free pick up and drop off is provided for group travelling together.

Sightseeing

• The largest wild life reserves, Yala and Uda Walawe are a half day trip from Ardeen. The game reserves are famous for elephant. leopard. bear, deer and wild boar. Picnic lunch arranged.
• The UNESCO declared Heritage City of Galle Fort is approximately a 60 minute drive.
• Day trip to the hill country town of Ella Ella is a day trip. Ella is famous for its bio diversity of fauna and flora, tea plantations and rolling mountains and winding railway line with the nine arches bridge.
• Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is approximately a 10 minute drive.
• A day trip to the Bundala Bird Sanctuary is a 60 minute drive.
• Dolphin and whale watching at Mirissa and Dikwella is a 35 minute drive.
• Surf beach at Kudawella is a 25 minute drive. Hiriketiya bay is a 25 minute drive, ideal for surfing and swimming all through the year. Many other bays ideal for swimming and bathing are found in the neighborhood. Ardeen beach is best for swimming from November though March, and other months on calm days.
• The blow hole is a 30-minute drive.
• A boat ride at dusk on the lagoon 400 metres away can be arranged where several species of bird life can be seen in large numbers.
• Watch the fishermen draw their nets with their days catch or sit by the lagoon enjoying the sunset and learning the art of prawn fishing. Angling on the beach can also be done.
• The 18 hole golf course is a twenty minute drive to the Shangri La International Golf Resort.
• Explore and relax outside the villa on the beautiful pristine stretch of beach sipping a cocktail, gazing at the turquoise waters and amazing sunsets.
• Swim with the turtles in Unawatune beach.
• Sight turtles laying their eggs at night on the Rekawa Turtle beach located 4 kilometers away
• Game of golf at the International Golf Resort is a 20 minute drive.
